Boom!

JUMP DAY 2018 So you know downdiroad is culture right? Believe it or not, carnival & soca music is becoming a big part of the Jamaican culture, especially in Kingston & it's environs. With Carnival Sunday looming, we are expected to have a large number of visitors flying in to the capital city for Jamaica's carnival celebrations, and I can tell you first hand that basically all hotels in Kingston have been booked since December. The carnival event & season sees an ever increasing influx of visitors and locals pumping revenue into the economy, from the basic purchase of carnival costumes, right down to event entry fees, hotel bookings, food and transportation costs. Carnival is big business in Jamaica & it's very interesting to note it's ever growing popularity.

I have a new thing for the carnival season, called #chippinDownDiRoad where I'll be covering a few events & trying to get some feedback from patrons in regards to their carnival experiences and how they really feel about the carnival culture in Jamaica, both good and bad!

Check out the gallery from the Jamaica Carnival Road March 2018, as well as a few videos from events held throughout the carnival season! Follow me & team downdiroad!
